Motion: Approve the job descriptions for Security Guard and Security Officer, as proposed Synopsis of Previous Council Action: None. Background: During FY 2010/2011, City Hall and Downtown Parking District Security were transferred from Facilities Management to the Police Department. The job specifications for the Security Guard and Security Officer positions had not been amended to reflect the change of assignment to the Police Department. The Human Resources Department is in agreement with the proposed changes and recommends approval. Patrols an assigned area in and around public buildings, parking lots, and other public areas to prevent vandalism, theft, and abuse of the facilities; enforces applicable codes o and ordinances. a 3. Reports acts of vandalism, theft, abuse; observations of suspicious activities or persons, loitering, smoke or fire to the appropriate authority. h 4. Ensures that the facilities are secure: doors and windows and other access points are g closed and locked; that no inappropriate persons are in the facilities at inappropriate times. ° a 5. Preserves order and enforces applicable rules and regulations. 3 6. Escorts personnel as requested. 7. Protects personnel as required. r 8. Maintains a log of activities and incidents. 9. Prepares written reports of activities and incidents and their dispositions. rn 10. Issues parking citations in public parking areas. 11. Reports abandoned or damaged vehicles. d 12.
