Synopsis of Previous Council Action: The Council voted in 2011 to designate Council Member Rikke Van Johnson as the City of San Bernardino's voting delegate at the National League of Cities Congress of Cities,held November 9-12, 2011,in Phoenix,AZ. Background: The National League of Cities will hold its Annual Business Meeting Saturday,December 1, 2012, at the conclusion of the Congress of Cities and Exposition in Boston,MA. As a direct member city,the City of San Bernardino is entitled to vote at this meeting. Depending on population at the 2010 Census, each member city casts between one and 20 votes. Based on our population, the City of San Bernardino is entitled to six votes. To be eligible to vote, a voting delegate and alternate must be officially designated by the city and be present at the Annual Business Meeting to cast the city's votes. If the city chooses to send delegates to the Annual Business Meeting,the names of the delegates must be provided to the National League of Cities before October 31. Council Members Chas Kelley and John Valdivia have indicated an interest in attending this conference.
