Synopsis of Previous Council Action: 03-07-12 Resolution No. 2012-36 -The Mayor and Common Council awarded a contract to Lighting Technology Services, Inc., for energy efficiency lighting upgrades at City Hall,Norman Feldheym Central Library, and Central Police Station in the amount of$694,260.02. Background: On March 7, 2012,the Mayor and Common Council adopted Resolution No. 2012-36, authorizing the award of a contract to Lighting Technology Services,Inc., for energy efficiency lighting upgrades at City Hall,Norman Feldheym Central Library, and Central Police Station Updated: 11/29/2012 by Linda Sutherland C Packet Pg 341 I 2061 per Bid Documents No. 12828, 12819, & 12830. The project was funded by the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant(EECBG)No. DE-SC0001924 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act(ARRA) of 2009. The proposed upgrades included replacement of existing lighting fixtures and ballasts with Southern California Edison-approved energy efficient lighting fixtures and ballasts. on As the project proceeded, four field instructions rions of ex nst ng modular Field at the #1 was for a total amount of$6,644.02. U nforeseen conditions Normal Feldheym Central Library added an additional $5,304.12. In addition,the contractor was instructed to furnish and install local dimmer switches not included in the specifications for a cost of$1,339.90. Field Instruction#2 resulted in a credit to the City of$9,943.09. During lamps result ngi n a credit h the scope of installation was reduced by delamping of$13,690.19. Local dimmer switches not included in the specification were installed at a cost of$2,412.99. Installation of data wire not included in the specification added$1,334.11. Field Instruction#3 was issued for work at the Central Police Station in the amount of$5,572.88. The contractor was asked to install local dimmer switches not included in the specifications at a cost of$1,876.45. Work hours were also adjusted to not interfere with police operations resulting in an additional cost of$3,696.43. Field Instruction#4 was issued for work in City Hall in the amount of$18,250.59. Additional lamps and ballasts in the amount of$15,183.59 were furnished and installed in the plaza area. A Dell laptop computer for mobile operations of the Daintree Networks lighting system was furnished for an additional $3,067.00. The total change order amount was$20,524.40. The work was completed in accordance with City standards and has been accepted by the field inspector. Staff is recommending approval of this contract change order.
