Mayor and Common Council's acceptance of art sculptures as an unconditional gift from
University Park, LLC.
Backeround•
Section 37354 of the California Government Code allows a legislative body to accept or reject
any gift, bequest, or devise made to or for the city, or to or for any of its officers in their official
capacity or in trust for any public purpose.
James Watson, representing University Park, LLC, partnered with California State University,
San Bernardino's Art Department to create a number of art sculptures at Chancellor's Park,
located at Kendall Ave and Campus Parkway. The proposed sculpture images are attached as
Exhibit A.
These sculptures are a gift to the City and once installed will be considered as City owned
property.
The Mayor and Common Council must accept these sculptures as an un-conditional gift from
University Park, LLC prior to installation.
Recommendation
That the Mayor and Common Council accept a donation of art sculptures as an unconditional gift
from University Park, LLC.
