CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
STAFF REPORT
Subject
Discuss and take possible action regarding the naming of public facilities.
Background
There are often times when recognition of an employee, elected official, or other well deserved
person might be remembered by naming a City owned facility in their honor. However, there is
no official policy in place that provides the criteria for doing so. The Parks, Recreation, and
Community Services Department has informal guidelines that were developed several years ago;
however,the procedures were never formally adopted by the Mayor and Common Council.
The matter should be referred to the Legislative Review Committee for further discussion in an
effort to develop a policy that will provide consistent guidelines and criteria for the naming of
City owned Facilities.
