Pools for the Renovation of Nunez Pool in the amount of$442,000.00.
Recommended Motion:
That Contract Change Order No. One to the contract with California Commercial Pools be
approved for various changes described in the staff report for a total Change Order amount of
$18,598, increasing the contract total from $442,000.00 to $460,5988.00.

STAFF REPORT
Subject:
Authorization to execute Contract Change Order No. 1—Renovation of Nunez Pool at 1717
West Fifth Street Per Plan No. 9943 with California Commercial Pools.
Background:
On June 7, 1999, the City entered into a contract with California Commercial Pools for the
Renovation of Nunez Pool at 1717 West Fifth Street.
During construction it became apparent that certain changes to the design were needed to
assure that the pool will be safe, functional, and require minimum maintenance. Additionally,
several changes were required as a condition of the County Health Department permit and
subsequent inspection.
Contract Change Order No. 1 consists of the following items:

Credit to substitute epoxy paint with encapsulated sand in lieu of impact ($2,300.00)
coating specified
Furnish and install additional 6" strainer for the feature pump. Price $1,483.00
includes tax, freight and installation.
Increase size of all main drain grates from 9" to 12". 8 grates at $37.00 $296.00
additional per grate.
Increase the size of both surge pits by approximately 40%. Work to $3,100.00
include excavation, reinforcement, concrete waterproofing and increased
lid size. Large Pool is $1,800.00 and small pool is $1,300.00.
Extend gutter system for the full perimeter of the new wading pool and $11,887.00
delete geyser plumbiRS as required by County Health Department.
Remove and replace 570 square feet of deck at $7.25 per square foot. $4,132.00
TOTAL COST $18,598.00
A copy of Change Order No. One is attached which will increase the contract total from
$442,000 to $460,598.
Financial Impact:
Sufficient funding for this Change Order is available from CDBG Project No. 96-208.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends approval of Contract Change Order No. One.
