Description) Street Name Charge&Pcessin fe Finance: Council Notes: I it 99 Agenda Item No. �� CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION STAFF REPORT SUBJECT: Authorization to proceed - Street Name Change - "Auto Plaza Drive" to "Auto Center Drive" BACKGROUND: The former San Bernardino Auto Plaza Association has changed its name to Inland Empire Auto Center and requests that said Auto Plaza Drive be changed to Auto Center Drive to correspond with the change. Ronald Skipper, attorney for the Inland Empire Auto Center, has filed an application for the street name change, along with a check to cover the administration proceedings. Auto Plaza Drive is the major arterial into the Auto Center; the businesses on this street front on the side streets and therefore would require no address change. Since no addresses front on Auto Plaza Drive, there would be no adverse impact as result of the name changes. A portion of this section of Auto Plaza Drive is within the City of Colton. Colton will be advised of this proposed street name change, if authorization to proceed is approved. Caltrans will need to revise their freeway directional signing to indicate Orange Show Road to the east and Auto Center Drive to the west. The applicant will be responsible for all expenses for changing the freeway signing. If authorization is given, Step 1 will begin and this office will make the necessary notification to the adjoining property owners, City departments and utility companies, conduct the investigations and prepare the appropriate resolution. The Post Office will also be advised of the street name change. Step 2 of this procedure is to bring this action back to Council in 45 days for final approval. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The applicant has paid a $500.00 non-refundable processing fee for the street name change and will pay the cost of new street signs.
