SAN BERNARDINO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Meeting the Transportation Needs for Southern
California, (Orange County) in the 21st Century
The San Bernardino International Airport and Trade Center, strategically located within one of the
fastest growing U.S. Metropolitan areas, provides available land and significant assets to be
developed into a regional airport for Southern California.
The San Bernardino International Airport continues to work collectively with Inland Empire
localities and aviation authorities to support and develop ample capacity to serve the cargo and air
travel needs of millions of travelers and is convenient to many parts of the Southern California
Region, including Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside and, of course, San Bernardino counties.
Located near the San Bernardino International Airport are three interstate freeways and three national
rail carriers within 2-miles. Other assets include a Part 139 FAA Certificate,2-way broad band fiber
optic network, 175-acre foreign trade zone,U.S. Customs, maintenance and repair,FAA Part 107
Authorization, and the capability of handling all aircraft sizes. The airport also includes a 10,000
foot runway,hangar and warehouse space as an export assistance office and the capability to serve
the air cargo needs of Southern California.
The program to further develop the San Bernardino International Airport is a regional issue with
significant positive economic impact for all Southern California counties.

BERNARDINO IN SUPPORT OF SAN BERNARDINO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AS A
3 REGIONAL AIRPORT FOR SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, (ORANGE COUNTY).

5 WHEREAS, San Bernardino International Airport, at the site of the former Norton Air Force
6 Base in San Bernardino, is capable of serving the air travel needs of millions of travelers
7 in the Southern California region; and
8 WHEREAS, the San Bernardino International Airport is open for business with an
9 immediate capacity for moving thousands of tons of cargo per year, and
10 WHEREAS, San Bernardino International Airport is centrally located and convenient to
11 many parts of Orange, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside Counties; and
12 WHEREAS, San Bernardino International Airport has a substantial capacity for
13 passenger service which could be utilized immediately; and
14 WHEREAS, San Bernardino International Airport has substantial unused capacity, and
15 the surrounding community is anxious for it to achieve its economic potential; and
16 WHEREAS, in addition to this facility, Southern California is served by a number of other
17 existing airports including, Los Angeles International Airport, Long Beach Airport, Orange
18 County Airport, Palm Springs Airport, Palmdale Airport and Ontario Airport; and
19 WHEREAS, the San Bernardino International Airport will have ample capacity to serve
20 the passenger and cargo needs of all of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San
21 Bernardino Counties for the twenty-first century.
22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of San Bernardino will work with
23 other Inland Empire municipalities and aviation entities to develop capacity enhancements
24 that will serve the regional aviation needs of Southern California for the twenty-first century.
