Synopsis of Previous Council action:
None.
Recommended motion:
1 . That the transfer of $14 , 000, from Account No. 001-307-52020,
"Salaries, Permanent/Full Time, " to Account No. 001-307-53150,
"Professional/Contractual Services, " be approved.
2 . That the plans for painting traffic line stripes and pavement
markings, in accordance with Plans No. 9068, be approved; and
the Director of Public Works/City Engineer be authorized to
advertise for bids.

STAFF REPORT
One position of Maintenance Worker I became vacant as of
1-16-94, due to the resignation of one of the incumbents. Salary
savings of about $16, 000 will be realized from that date to 6-30-
94. It is recommended that these salary savings be transferred
to Professional/Contractual Services, in order to finance a
contract for painting traffic line stripes and pavement markings.
This contract will be a pilot project under the City' s program to
evaluate privatization.
Plans for painting traffic line stripes and pavement
markings have been prepared by City personnel , and the project is
readv to be advertised for bids .
Below is an estimate of the total project cost:
Maintenance Contract $ 12, 000
Contingencies (17%) ± 2, 000
TOTAL ESTIMATED PROJECT COST $ 14,000
All costs incurred for this project will be charged to
Account No. 001-307-53150.
We recommend that the plans be approved and authorization
granted to advertise for bids.
