Classification Lifeguard: Lileanna Wright, Emmanuel Calva, Moriah Crayne,Misty Blount, a Mariah Bigham, Chris Smith,Rachel Stewart,Joshua Vasquez,Aletis Pedroza, Alejandra Centeno,Adriana George Senior Lifeguard: Trisha Cosper o rn Justification Seasonal Aquatics Program—Memorial Day to Labor Day. To maintain mandated lifeguard services at four pool locations and prevent drownings, promote water safety. 0 How long has the position been vacant? Summer season employment only. Why is it critical to rill this position? Maintain mandated life-saving services, without staff the City cannot open municipal pool locations. Loss of revenue. E r What options were considered? There are no other Lifeguard Services contractors. M a What is the potential impact of keeping the position vacant in terms of City/Community services? Municipal pools would remain closed and there would be no physical activity through water play, resulting in increased obesity rates and resultant chronic diseases (asthma, hypertension, diabetes). Loss of revenue. Potential for increased drownings due to no learn-to-swim class offerings. Is this the result of Personnel Committee action? No. If hiring at a.salary above step 1,why? One Senior Lifeguard is hired in at Step 2 because her previous work experience justifies it. Packet Pg:i74-
