Motion: Approve the job description for Animal Shelter Attendant, Range 1350, $2543- $3092/month; approve the job description for Construction/Survey Manager, Range 2520, $5938-$7218/month; and authorize the Director of Human Resources to update Resolution Nos. 97-244 and 2011-218 to reflect this action. Synopsis of Previous Council Action: On April 26, 2012, the Personnel Committee recommended this item to be forwarded to the Mayor and Common Council for adoption. Background: The Human Resources Department has recently received several requests from various departments to make minor changes to job descriptions in an effort to update the classifications to reflect current department names and updated minimum qualifications. The proposed job descriptions, with a brief summary of the requested revisions, are as follows: Animal Shelter Attendant The Police Chief has requested that the Minimum Qualification of this classification be revised to reflect that the experience of handling and working with animals is no longer a requirement but a preference. Also, it is requested that for new employees who are hired into this classification after the approval of this item, the Minimal Qualifications include the successful completion of a Police Department civilian employee background check Updated: 5/2/2012 by Linda Sutherland Page 1 1816 and polygraph examination. Per the City Attorney's Office, government entities are Cexempt from the Polygraph Protection Act of 1988. As such,polygraph examinations are allowable for all candidates for City employment. Construction/Survey Manager On April 19, 2010, the Public Services Department was reorganized and renamed the Public Works Department. Part of the reorganization was to incorporate classifications within the Development Services Department that were similar in nature and would provide greater efficiency. The revisions requested in this job description reflect only the changes made as part of the reorganization and department name change. Incumbents perform intake activities including entry of animal data into the department's animal management system, performing vaccinations, conducting preliminary health examinations and animal assessments.
