In order to meet year- end budgetary reductions,Asset Forfeiture funds will be used for the purchase of replacement tactical vests. A budget amendment will be requested to increase Police Asset Forfeiture revenue and expenditure budgets accordingly. Account Budgeted Amount: $94,222.22 Account No. 108*3405 Account Description: Asset Foreiture Undesignated Fund Balance Balance as o£ 4/18/12 $613,217 Balance after approval of this item: $518,994.78 Please note this balance does not indicate available funding. Updated:5/3/2012 by Georgeann"Gigi"Hann B Packet Pg.296'f' 1800 Background: Specialty enforcement officers such as MET, GANGS and SWAT are issued threat level III ballistic/tactical vests for use during tactical operations involving heavily armed or barricaded subjects. Each vest is under warranty for a maximum period of five years and must be replaced to ensure officer safety and reduce potential liability to the City. Vests currently in use by the MET unit were issued in 2006 and have exceeded their warranty period. On February 15 , 2012, RFQ 12-11 for 29 threat-level IIIA tactical vests and accessories was advertised on the City of San Bernardino website, the San Bernardino Sun, the San Bernardino Chamber of Commerce and bids were entailed to five vendors.
