Financial Impact: The replacement of 270 patrol ballistic vests will require$190,171.80 in funding. Synopsis of Previous Council Action: 3/7/2007 Resolution #2007-78 authorizing the issuance of a purchase order to Adamson Police Products for threat level IIIA patrol ballistic vests. 3/6/2006 Resolution #2006-67 authorizing the issuance of a purchase order to Aardvark Tactical Inc., for threat level III ballistic vests for MET and Vice/Narcotics officers. 11/15/2004 Resolution #2004-360, authorizing the issuance of an annual purchase order for FY 2004-05 with three optional renewal years to Adamson Industries for ballistic vests. Background: In 2007, the Police Department upgraded the specifications for ballistic vests from threat level II Updated: 5/1/2012 by Stephanie Easland C f 1799 to level IRA and replaced all ballistic vests with the Second Chance Summit vest. The manufacturer warranties a five-year service life. Existing equipment expires 2012 and must be replaced. On February 15, 2012, RFQ 12-12 for 270 threat-level IIIA ballistic vests was advertised on the City of San Bernardino website, in the San Bernardino Sun, and the San Bernardino Chamber of Commerce. In addition, email notices were sent to five vendors.
