HomeMy WebLinkAbout1987-5027 SBEOOOOl-208/2513S/bm 06/29/87 RESOLUTION NO. 5027 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, ESTABLISHING A BEREAVEMENT POLICY FOR EMPLOYEES WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 4274, the Community Development Commission of the City of San Bernardino (the "Commission") adopted the Official Personnel Manual applicable to the Redevelopment Agency of the City of San Bernardino (the "Agency" ); and. WHEREAS, it is reasonable and appropriate for' the Commission, acting on behalf of the Agency, to amend the Official Personnel Manual in order to provide for bereavement leave. NOW, THEREFORE, THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION, ACTING ON BEHALF OF THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The Official Personnel Manual of the Agency, adopted pursuant to Resolution No. 4274 of the Commission, is hereby amended by adding thereto Section 10.5 to read as follows: "10.5. BEREAVEMENT LEAVE An employee shall be entitled to receive no more than a total of forty (40) hours of bereavement leave per calendar year in order to attend the funeral of members of the immediate family of the employee. For purposes hereof "immediate family" shall mean husband, wife, grandmother, '--, -1- r , '-' "..- '~ c grandfather, mother, father, sister, brother, son, daughter, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, son-in-law and daughter-in-law. An employee shall not be entitled to carry forward to any ensuing year all or any portion of bereavement leave which is not used in a current or prior year. During an employee's initial calendar year of emploYment, the amount of bereavement leave authorized for such employee shall be that portion of said maximum forty (40) hours equal to the proportionate remainder of the calendar year following the date of hire of the employee." Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption and shall have retroactive application to the period following January 1, 1987.
