Home My WebLink About2012-069 RESOLUTION NO. 2012-69 2 RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AUTHORIZING THE WASTE TIRE ENFORCEMENT GRANT FUNDS AND RATIFYING THE APPLICATION FROM THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF RESOURCES RECYCLING AND RECOVERY (CALRECYCLE). 3 4 5 6 WHEREAS, Public Resources Code sections 40000 et seq. authorize the 7 Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CaIRecycle), to administer various 8 Grant Programs (grants) in furtherance of the state of California's (State) efforts to 9 reduce, recycle and reuse solid waste generated in the State thereby preserving landfill 10 capacity and protecting public health and safety and the environment; and 11 WHEREAS, in furtherance of this authority, CalRecycle is required to establish 12 procedures governing the application, awarding, and management of the grants; and 13 14 WHEREAS, CalRecycle grant application procedures require, among other 15 things, an applicant's governing body to declare by resolution certain authorizations 16 related to the administration of CalRecycle grants; and 17 WHEREAS, the City proposes to continue a Waste Tire Enforcement Program 18 that involves inspection and compliance activities of waste tire facilities, haulers, tire 19 dealers, and auto dismantlers that will reduce illegal stockpiling and disposal of waste 20 21 tires; and 22 WHEREAS, the grant application deadline was November 30, 2011, and the 23 grant term is June 30, 2012 through September 30, 2013. 24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND 25 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS: 26 SECTION 1. The Mayor and Common Council hereby ratify the submittal of the 27 application to CalRecycle for the Waste Tire Enforcement Grant Program; and 28 2012-69 2 RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AUTHORIZING THE WASTE TIRE ENFORCEMENT GRANT FUNDS AND RATIFYING THE APPLICATION FROM THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF RESOURCES RECYCLING AND RECOVERY (CALRECYCLE). 3 4 5 SECTION 2.
