Financial Impact: No cost to the City. Motion: Establish salaries for Police Department Ranges P-I (Police Officer), P-2 (Detective/ Corporal), P-3 (Sergeant), P-4 (Lieutenant), P-5 (Captain), P-6 (Assistant Chief), P-7 (Chief) and Law Enforcement Trainee be established, effective August I, 2011; and authorize the Director of Human Resources to amend Resolution No. 6429 to reflect the above action. Svnopsis of Previous Council Action: On July 18, 2011, Mayor and Common Council approved the established salaries for Police Department Ranges P-I (Police Officer), P-2 (Detective/Corporal), P-3 (Sergeant), P-4 (Lieutenant), P-5 (Captain, P-6 (Assistant Chief), P-7 (Chief) and Law Enforcement Trainee, effective August 1,2010, and authorized the Human Resources Director to amend Resolution No. 6429 to reflect this action. Backl!round: As outlined in Resolutions 2010-275 and 2010-345, the Police Safety and Police Management employees agreed to negotiate Charter Section 186 formula to result in no financial impact for 2010 and 2011. This staff report is in preparation for updating Resolution 6429. Section 186 of the City Charter established a formula for setting salaries for local safety members, effective August I of each year. An agreement was reached for the 10 cities to be used for this year's calculations. The salaries of those 10 cities have been averaged to determine this year's salaries for Police Safety and Police Management classifications.
