ESTABLISHING A BASIC COMPENSATION PLAN FOR OFFICERS/~ND/OR EMPLOYEES OF THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS 4 .. .It; ADDING SECTION SEVEN (h) AND SEVEN (i) RELATING TO THE WORK HOURS AND WORK UNIFORMS OF FIRE FIGHTERS AND AMENDING SECTION 5 SEVEN AND ONE-HALF RELATING TO EDUCATIONAL INCENTIVE AND EDUCA- TIONAL!LCNGEVITY PAY. 6 t3E IT REOOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY 7 OF SAN BERNARDINO, AS FOLLOWS: 8 SECTION 1. Resolution No. 6429, Section Sev.n~'b )hereby' . 9 amended by adding thereto subsection (h), to read as follows: 10 "SECTION SEVEN. (h) Effective January 1, 1976, for safety 11 members of the Fire Department, the averege work week for "shift" 12 personnel shall be 58 hours. Effective July 1, 1976, the average 13 work week for "shift" personnel shall be 56 hours. Overtime 14 worked in excess of the above average work week shall be paid at 15 the rate of straight time. With the concurrence of the Chief 16 17 18 Engineer, safety members of the Fire Department may opt to receive compensatory time off, at the rate of one hour for each overtime hour worked." 19 SECTION 2. Resolution No. 6429, Section Seven is hereby 20 amended by adding thereto subsection (i), to read as follows: 21 ItSECTION SEVEN. (i) Effective December 15, 1975, the City 22 23 24 will furnish, and replace as needed, four (4) work shirts and two (2) pairs of work trousers to each safety member of the Fire Department. " 25 26 27 28 SECTION 3. Resolution No. 6429, Section Seven and One-Half, ia amended to read as follows: "SECTION SEVEN AND ONE-HALF: (a) All police offIcers in position classifications Pl, P2, P3, and P4, only, shall be 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 entitled to receive, in addition to their regular monthly salary, an incentive payment as outlined below: (1) Effective September 1, 1975, $50.00 per month ($23.07 per pay period) shall be paid as incentive pay to each police officer who has obtained a Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Intermediate Certificate. (2) Effective SepteMbe~ 1, 1975, $100.00 per month ($46.15 per pay period) shall be paid as incentive pay to each police officer who has obtained a Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Advanced Certificate. (3) Effective January 1, 1978, the incentive pay for the Intermediate and Advanced Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Certificates shall be increased to $75.00 and $125.00 per month ($34.62 and $57.69 per pay period), respectively, and shal11be paid as an addition to the police officer's regular salary. (4) The maximum incentive pay under the above entitlement, i.e., for a holder of both P.O.S.T. Certificates, shall be limited to $100.00 per month per police officer prior to January 1, 1978, or $125.00 per month per police officer after December 31, 1977. (b) Kll fire fighters in position classdfications Pl, P2, P3, and P4, only, shall be entitled to receive, in admation to their regular monthly salary, an educational/longevity payment as outlined below:' (1) Effective July 1, 1976, $50.00 per month ($23.07 per pay period) shall be paid as an educational/longevity payment to each fire fighter who has a minimum of ten (10) years of continu- ous full time employment with the City of San Bernardino and has - . ~ 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 presented adequate proof that he has earned a minimum of twenty (20) semester units, or thirty (30) quarter units, of Fire Science courses as defined by the California State Department of Education Fire Science Curriculum. (2) Effective July 1, 1977. tha educational/longevity pay- ment shall be increased to $75.00 per month ($34.62 per pay period for each eligible fire fighter, and shall be paid in addition to the fire fighter's regular aalary."
