RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING
RESOLUTION NO. 6433 ENTITLED IN PART "A RESOLUTION CREATING
AND ESTABLISHING POSITIONS FOR THE VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS OF THE
CITY. . ."~ AND AMENDING SECTION TWELVE RELATING TO TOOL
REPLACEMENT ALLOWANCES, UNIFORM ALLOWANCES, AND HEALTH INSURANCE
COVERAGE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Resolution No. 6433, Section Twelve,
Subsection (a) is hereby amended to read as follows:
"(a) The City shall provide a tool replacement allowance
for lost or damaged personal tools in an amount not to exceed
one hundred dollars ($100.00) per year per employee in any of the
following position classifications:
(1) Central Garage Division: Mechanics and
Servicemen~
(2) Electrical Division: Electricians I & II,
Apprentices and Linemen~
(3) Park and Recreation Department: Plumbers,
Construction and Maintenance Personnel~
(4) Public Buildings Division: Maintenance
Personnel,
provided that all tools are adequately marked and inventoried
and a report of inventory filed with the Department Head and are
maintained under reasonable and adequate security. Tools lost
or damaged through no fault of the employee will be replaced by
the employee and reimbursement therefor will be made by the City
after submission of an appropriate City form accompanied by an
approved invoice or receipt. Forms shall be submitted semi-
annually in June and December or upon termination of the

employee from City service for any reason. Damaged tools which
are replaced through reimbursement by the City shall be turned
in to the Department Head and shall become the property of the
City.
For Central Garage Division personnel only who are
required to purchase personal metric tools, a one time additional
fifty dollar ($50.00) tool purchase allowance shall be
authorized during the fiscal year 1977-l978.n
SECTION 2. Resolution No. 6433, Section Twelve,
Subsection (b) is hereby amended to read as follows:
neb) The City shall provide uniforms for the following
position classifications:
(1) Central Garage Division: Equipment Mechanic
Foreman, Equipment Mechanic, Senior Mechanic, Welder, Auto Body
Repairman, Auto Body Repairman Helper, Mechanic Helper and
Automotive Serviceman;
(2) Street Division: eight employees assigned to
Sewer Maintenance, Skilled Laborer (Street Barricade), and five
employees assigned to Asphalt Crew;
(3) Electrical Division: Lineman, Apprentice
Electrician, Electrician I and Electrician II;
(4) Cemetery: Laborer;
(5) Central Communications: Maintenance Personnel;
(6) Public Buildings Division: custodians, Building
Maintenance Personnel, Parking Control Checkers;
(7) Animal Control: Kennelman.
The City shall provide a cash allowance of one hundred
fifty dollars ($150.00) per person at the start of each fiscal

year for uniforms as prescribed by the City to be paid to Animal
Control Technicians of the Animal Control Department.
The City shall provide appropriate duty rain gear for
Refuse Operators, Cemetery Personnel, Animal Control Technicians,
Parking Control Checkers and those personnel in the Street and
Electrical Divisions and Park and Recreation Department Personnel
who are assigned to work in inclement weather. There will be
kept in Central Stores six sets of rain gear to be made
available on loan as needed to employees in the Central Garage
and Engineering Division."
SECTION 3. Resolution No. 6433, Section Twelve,
Subsection (e) is hereby amended to read as follows:
"(e) The City shall pay the monthly subscription charges
for the subscriber only for group health insurance for Safety
Members of the Fire Department through August 31, 1978, with the
maximum paYment limited to the twenty-five dollars and two cents
($25.02) premium now charged by the health insurance carrier for
the fire fighter's union or the twenty-one dollars and eleven
cents ($21.11) now charged by the City's prime group health
insurance carrier, provided the selection is limited to any of
the group health plans as may be approved by the City. The
City shall pay the monthly subscription charges for the sub-
scriber only for group health insurance for Safety Members of
the police Department through August 31, 1978, with the maximum
paYment limited to the premium charged by the City's prime group
health insurance carrier, provided the group health plan is
limited to any of the group health plans as may be approved by
the City. Effective September 1, 1977, the City shall pay the

1 monthly subscription charges for an employee and one dependent
2 not to exceed sixty-eight dollars and forty-three cents($68.43)
3 for group health insurance for management/confidential and
4 general employees and employees who are full-time employees
5 whose positions are funded under Federal law and who are
6 regularly employed in a permanent or Federally-funded position,
7 if such a benefit is required by Federal law, and their dependent ,
8 provided the group health plan is limited to any of the group
9 h~alth plans as may be approved by the City.
10 The previously established insurance benefit for an
11 employee and one dependent of not to exceed forty-nine dollars
12 and seventy-eight cents ($49.78) shall remain in effect until
13 August 31, 1977.
14 In addition to the group health insurance, the City shall
15 provide to management/confidential employees ten thousand
16 dollars ($10,000.00) life insurance coverage and provide to
17 general employees, Federally-funded employees as aforesaid,
18 and safety employees one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) life
19 insurance coverage payable by the City."
