Recommended Motlon(sl: lCmnmunltv DeveIoD.....,nt Comml.,lon) MOTION A: That the Community Development Commission authorize and direct the Executive Director to negotiate and execute a contract with Environmental Control Systems for the demolition and asbestos abatement/removal of the Police Station and Valley Auto Supply in the amount of$127,500. Furthermore, authorize staff to adminillter and execute change orders, limited to the amount of the contingency ($19,125). MOTION B: That the Community Development Commission authorize and direct the Executive Director to execute all necesllllIY documents related to the demolition and asbestos abatement/removal of the Police Station and Valley Auto Supply. () 0 DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AGENCY STAFF REPORT Award of Contract - ponce Station and YaHeY Auto SUDnlv Demolitions and Asbestos Abatement/Removal BACKGROUND Bids pertaining to the demolition and asbestos abatement/removal for the City of San Bernardino Police Station (466 West Fourth Street) and Valley Auto Supply (441 West Fifth Street) were opened on Thursday, August 4, 1994 at 2:00 p.m. A total of seven (7) bids were received from demolition contractors and asbestos abatement contractors. Of the bids received, Environmental Control Systems of Quail Valley was the apparent lowest responsible bidder with a base bid of$127,500. The fifteen percent (15%) contingency of$19,125 will project total demolition costs for both buildings at an amount not to exceed $146,625. The fulfillment of the MBFJWBE goals is evidenced by Caltrans certifications submitted by the contractor on the behalf of the subcontractors. Contract compliance will be monitored by staff.
