REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
STAFF REPORT
Manuel Moreno, Director of Public Service~has requested the
filling of a vacant Abatement Aide position. The position
has been frozen for several years but is funded in this
year's budget. There is no salary established and the last
time it was listed was in Resolution #86-410, adopted by the
Mayor and Common Council on October 6, 1986, amending Resolu-
tion #6413. At that time, the position was titled
"Abatement/ Tree Aide", however it performed similar duties
to Abatement Aide.
The salary range then was 1075, $1382-$1683 monthly. Mr.
Moreno recommends that Abatement Aide be set at Range 1078,
$1581-$1926/mo., a 3-range and 14.4% increase. During that
same period, the Abatement Coordinator position, which super-
vised Abatement/Tree Aide and would supervise Abatement Aide)
increased from Range 1083, $1523-$1857/mo., to Range 1092,
$1879-$2289/mo., a 9 range and 23.3% increase.
After reviewing the job description, comparing .the position
to the others in 'the salary resolution, and noting the above
history, I recommend that Council approve setting the salary
range for Abatement Aide at Range 1078. The Council
Personnel Committee reviewed this item at their October 5,
1989, meeting and recommended approval by the full Council.
