Synopsis of Previous Commission/Council/Committee Action(s):
On March 21, 1994, the Community Development Commission took action terminating the
services of the City Attorney as general counsel for the Economic Development Agency.
On April 18, 1994, the Community Development Commission approved the retention of the City
Attorney as general counsel to the Economic Development Agency until a new general counsel
is selected.

STAFF REPORT
General Counsel Services
On March 21, 1994, the Community Development Commission took action terminating the legal
services of the City Attorney's office as Agency counsel. Subsequently, on April 18, 1994, the
Community Development Commission approved the retention of the City Attorney as Agency
Counsel until a new General Counsel is selected.
Since that time, staff prepared and issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to approximately forty
(40) law firms with redevelopment and economic development experience. Six (6) responses were
received and reviewed. Interviews were held with two (2) local firms. It was determined that neither
firm met our needs.
The Law Offices of Sabo & Green have agreed to provide interim general counsel services to the
Agency at $72.50 per hour, which is 50% of their normal rate.
