· CITY OF SAN BERNCRDINO - REQUEST ()R COUNCIL ACTION
STAFF REPORT
The City of San Bernardino has adopted a number of new
ordinances, resolutions, etc. during the past year which
affect tenants, business operators and every property owner.
Information regarding the highlights of the major programs
has been carried by the media (radio, television and
newspapers); however, no single information source could be
expected to reach everyone concerned. It has been suggested,
therefore, that a community information brochure be prepared
for mailing to every resident and business location in the
city. The format would be patterned after similar brochures
issued regularly by many other Cities.
Property cleanup, blight abatement, law enforcement services,
emergency numbers, etc. are potential inclusions in the first
issue. If, based on results, the Mayor and Council determine
that such brochures should be prepared on a periodic basis,
subsequent issues could include Library, Park and Recreation
programs, etc. in addition to other SUbjects of a topical
nature.
The publication contemplated at this time would not be as
ambitious as the samples of the Colton Community Newsletter
which have been made available. It is proposed that an 8-
page (as opposed to Colton ,I s 2 O-page) brochure be prepared
and processed, in-house. Approximately 65,000 copies would
satisfy mailing requirements and make available ample copies
at Senior Centers, Parks, Library, City Hall etc.
If the Mayor and Council wish to proceed, staff will
undertake the preparation of draft articles and go forward
with plans for producing the brochure.
