Synopsis of Previous Council action:
7/17/89 The Mayor and Common Council approved cosponsorship of the
Miss Teen USA All States Picnic held on July 20, 1989 at
City Hall Plaza.
Recommended motion:
That the Magic Main Street Festival, to be held October 27
and 28, 1989, at the City Hall Plaza, be cosponsored by the
City of San Bernardino and authorize various City Departments
to provide in-kind services and that all fees be waived.

STAFF REPORT
The Main street Special Events Committee is coordinating with
the Magic Main Street Festival scheduled for October 27th and
28th. The first of the two events scheduled include a
masquerade ball at the Convention Center of the Maruko Hotel
on Friday evening, October 27th. The proceeds from the ball
will pay for the second event, a family festival, scheduled
from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the upper level of the City
Hall Plaza. Main Street Incorporated will provide
entertainment, food and beverage vendors for the October 28th
family festival, which will be free of charge. The City of
San Bernardino is asked to cosponsor the Magic Main Street
Festival and provide the following services on an in-kind
basis:

Police Department
Ten (10) trash containers to
be delivered by 9:00 a.m. and
site clean-up and removal of
trash containers at 3:00 p.m.
Three (3) Police Officers for
security purposes during the _
festival.
Parks, Recreation &
community Services
Additional coordination may be necessary with the Risk
Manager, Fire Marshall and city Clerk for inspection and
control purposes. The October 28th event will include roving
mimes, jugglers, musicians and magicians. The event will
feature colorful canopies, concession stands, balloons and
air tubes designed to transform downtown into a festive area.
