CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
Staff Report
Subiect
Resolution of the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino authorizing the
execution of an agreement for the City of Redlands Police Department to use the City of San
Bernardino Police Department's firing range.
Back2round
The City of Redlands Police Department does not have its own firearms range. On a contractual
basis, the City of Redlands Police Department utilizes the firearms facility of the San Bernardino
County Sheriffs Department for qualifications and training of its personnel.
Due to cost containment considerations, inclusive of officers' travel time to get to and from the
San Bernardino County Sheriffs Department range facility in the Devore area, it has become
necessary for the Redlands Police Department to seek an improved business-sense alternative
regarding firearms qualification of their personnel.
The City of Redlands Police Department anticipates qualifying approximately 85 officers three
times per year, at approximate four month intervals. The use of the San Bernardino Police
Department Pistol Range by the City of Redlands Police Department will not impact San
Bernardino Police Department's ability to qualify officers throughout the year.
Financial Impact
The financial impact on the General Fund as a result of this agreement causes an increase in
revenue of approximately $1,500.00 for fiscal year 2011/2012. An increase in revenue of
approximately $2,550.00 will be collected for fiscal year 2012/2013.
Recommendation
Adopt Resolution.
