Synopsis of Previous Council Action:
October 6. 2008 - Resolution 2008-386 was approved for grant funding for July I, 2008
through June 30, 2009 for the Senior Nutrition Program including (flat rate) salary increase for
the Food Service Supervisor II position effective July 1,2008 through June 30, 2009.
Recommended Motion:
· Authorize an increase for the salary for the Senior Nutrition Food Service Supervisor II from
a flat rate of$19.56 per hour to $24.56 effective 07/01/2008.
· Authorize the Human Resources Department to update Resolution 2008-20 to reflect
changes.

Staff Report
Subject:
Salary Increase for the position of Food Service Supervisor II in the Senior Nutrition Program.
Background:
The Parks, Recreation, aod Community Services Department have received funding from the
County Department of Aging aod Adult Services for twenty-eight years to provide Senior
Nutrition Services for the County of Sao Bernardino.
These services are offered at seven sites: 5th Street Senior Center, Perris Hill Senior Center, New
Hope Family Life Center, Hernaodez Community Center, Lighthouse for the Blind, Lytle Creek
Community Center, aod the Highlaod Senior Center. The program serves over 70,000 lunch
meals to seniors aonually.
In October 2008, the Graot was approved for funding from July 1,2008 through June 30, 2009.
As with previous years, the budget includes funding for personnel services, training, equipment,
food, aod other miscellaoeous expenses.
Per the 2008/2009 graot contract, the following salary increase is requested to be retroactive to
July 1,2008:

The Parks, Recreation, aod Community Services Department recommends the increase as
outlined in the graot.
Financial Impact:
This position is federally funded aod does not require a city match; therefore, there will be no
impact to the General Fund. The FY 2008-09 cost is estimated at $13,200 for increased salary
aod benefit costs.
Recommendation:
. Authorize ao increase for the salary for the Senior Nutrition Food Service Supervisor II from
