Synopsis of Previous Council action:
09-08-87 --- Resolution No. 87-314 adopted authorizing execution of
Utilities Agreement No. 8384 with State.
09-08-87 Finding made that relocation of sewers is needed for
health and safety reasons.
09-21-87 Plans approved and authorization granted to advertise
for bids.
11-02-87 Resolution No. 87-393 adopted, awarding a contract for
the low bid price of $422,859.00.

That Change Order No. ONE to the contract with Bonadiman-
McCain, Inc., for the relocation of sewer facilities for
construction of Route 30, from Highland Avenue to "H"
Street, in accordance with Plan No. 7116, be approved;
authorizing the contractor to perform additional underground
relocations for a net increase in the contract price of
$7,344.82, from $422,859.00 to $430,203.82.

CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
STAFF REPORT
The relocation of sewer facilities is being performed under
an agreement with Caltrans in order to facilitate the construction
of the Route 30 extension.
During construction, numerous unknown underground utilities
were encountered and revisions to the plans were made as required
to match existing field conditions and Caltrans' construction
operations.
The cost to perform the extra work due to unidentified
underground utilities is $7,344.82, as determined on a time and
material basis in accordance with Section 3-3 of the Standard Speci-
fications. The total estimated project cost includes an amount of
$65,641.00 for contingencies, which can be used to finance the
additional costs incurred for this extra work.
Caltrans is reimbursing the City for all costs incurred
under the contract. This change has been reviewed by Caltrans
and they are in concurrence.
We recommend that Change Order No. One be approved.
