A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL ORDERING
THE SUBMISSION OF ORDINANCE NO. 1714 ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE LICENS-
ING THE CARRYING ON OF CERTAIN BUSINESS,THAD'ES, CALLINGS AND
OCCUPATIONS IN THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, CALIFORNIA, FOR THE
PURPOSE OF RAISING MUNICIPAL REVENUE, AND PROVIDING PENALTIFB FOR
THE VIOLATION OF THE PROVISIONS HEREOF," TO THE VOTERS AT A
SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 7, 1944.
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Common Council duly and regularl~
adopted Ordinance No. 1714, entitled "AN ORDINANCE LICENSING THE
CARRYING ON OF CERTAIN BUSINESS, TRADES, CALLINGS AND OCCUPATIONS
IN THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, CALIFORNIA, FOR THE PURPOSE OF
RAISING MUNICIPAL REVENUE, AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLA~
TION OF THE PROVISIONS HEREOF," on the 17th day of April, 1944,
which Ordinance was approved by the Mayor on the 19th day of Apri1,
1944; and
WHEREAS, it appearing to the Council that during the
thirty day period immediately following the passage and approval
of said Ordinance a Referendum Petition protesting against the
passa~e of said Ordinance was duly and regularly presented to the
Council; and
WHEREAS, it further appearing that upon the presentation
and filing of said Referendum Petition the Clerk thereupon and in
accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the City of San
Bernardino examined said Petition, and did thereupon attach to

the City of San Bernardino at the last preceding election at WhiC1
a Mayor was elected was j?.:2/ votes. That said Petition pro-
testing the passage ot such Ordinance was signed by //.:1.. f of the I
qualified electors of the City of San Bernardino, which is more I

the total number of votes cast for all candidates for Mayor of

WHEREAS, it further appearing that the Council have duly
2 and regularly reconsidered such Ordinance and have refused and
3 deolined to repeal the same.
4 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVF,D BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON
5 COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO:

SECTION ONE: That Ordinanoe No. 1714, entitled AN
ORDINANCE LICENSING THE CARRYING ON OF CERTAIN BUSINESS, TRADFB,
CALLINGS AND OCCUPATIONS IN THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, CALIFORNIA 'I
