H. R, Griffin, died in the Cit'.' of Los Angeles, C8.1i- fornia. at the age of 76 years.. 7 The deceased was born in London. Ontario. Canada. but 8 9 spent a portion of his youth in the United States nursuing agri- culture in the States of Iowa and Nebraska. He later returned to London. Ontario. Canada. and engaged in Railroading on the Canadian Pacific Hanway. This was in 1902, at which time he settled in Moose Jaw. Saskatchewan. Through faithful and con- scientious labor. he finally graduated to the position of enginee on the Crack train of Canada - The Imperial Limited - which job he held for thirty long years. piloting hundreds of thousands of human souls over the matchless prairies of our Neighboring empire - by no means an inconsiderable performance. In the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers he prided himself on his 40 year nin in that brotherhood. His marriage to Alma Finch lasted over fifty long years to which union were born his son H. R. Griffin. our City Attorney and Pearl Rutherford of Los Angeles. The widow survives with his son and daughter and two grandchildren. He was decidedly a home-loving man. Besides his membership in the railroad brotherhood. he was also a respected and active member of the Masonic fraternity. From the foregoing facts. it is easy to conclude that Henry Howard Griffin was a pronounced success in life. ~~ile most of his activities on this earth's plane were carried on 01rt-! side the borders of this community. the results of his life and that of his wife. have come to us in the person of his son. 1 Would that all mAn could lAflve as worth~r e memory of service 2 3! 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 I 1311 1411 15 ! We think it fitting, therefore, that we exnress to our worthy City Attorney, to the surviving widow and the survivine; daughter of the late Henry Howard Griffin, our feelin~s of sympathy and condolences. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved thet we, the Mavor and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino, California, do hereby express to the members of the family of Henry Howard Griffin, our sympathy and condolence and our conviction that he was a man's man, a genuine husband and a revered father. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that as a memorial to his faith- ful performance of duty as engineer, husband and father, that this resolution be spread unon the minutes and a cony forwarded by the City Clerk to the members of the decedent's family.
