The City Center can take advantage of the existence of the several parks that the past builders of the City pro- vided. These open spaces, together with others that should be included within tiLlo important concentration of buildings, can turn the area from just another group of office buildings into a community center. San Bern- ardino has an unparalleled opportunity to create such a symbol without too much difficulty. The most im- portant part of this process is the acceptance and ad- herance to a plan that will bring this type of a tac1l1ty into being. It is recommended that local and regional public transit maintain a common centralized terminal facility I located preferably near the Central Business District. The General Plan proposes that a transportation center for bUB, taxi, and possibly future rapid transit be included in the Central City Area project to complement the vital commercial, administrative and tourist oriented uses pro- posed tor this area. The Center should be located be- tween the freeway and the retaU core.
