CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
STAFF REPORT
Subiect:
Resolution authorizing the installation of a 2-way stop at the intersection of Genevieve Street and
31 sl Street.
Backe:round:
The Traffic Engineering Section of the Public Works Department received citizen requests via
the Council Office to evaluate the intersection of Genevieve Street and 31 sl Street for stop signs.
The intersection is currently uncontrolled.
Staff evaluated the intersection by conducting a field inspection, reviewing collision records, and
considering traffic volumes. All other intersections immediately adjacent to this intersection
have stop controls. Control of the intersection with stop signs would enhance intersection safety
and make it consistent with all the other intersections immediately adjacent to it. Furthermore,
the investigation also indicates that 31 sl Street should stop for Genevieve Street. This will
require east and westbound traffic to stop for north and southbound traffic.
Therefore, Public Works recommends that the attached Resolution be approved, establishing
two-way stop controls at the intersection of 31 sl Street and Genevieve Street.
Financial Impact:
Funds for this are appropriated in the Public Works Department FY 2011-12 budget account for
materials and supplies No. 001-400-5111-0000-0026.
Account: 001-400-5111-0000-0026 Budgeted Amount: $ 230.100
Balance as of 7/11/11: $ 176.800 Balance after the approval of this item: $ 176.300
Please note this balance does not indicate available funding. It does not include non-encumbered
reoccurring expenses or expenses incurred. but not yet processed.
Recommendation:
Adopt Resolution.
