Dept: Human Resources Date: July 12, 2011 M/CC Meeting Date: July 18, 2011 Synopsis of Previous Council Action: On April 19, 2010, the Mayor and Common Council adopted Resolution No. 2010-78, a Resolution of the City of San Bernardino amending Resolution No. 6429, entitled in part, "A Resolution. . . establishing a basic compensation plan for officers and/or employees of the Police and Fire Departments of the City of San Bernardino." Backl!round: On August 16, 2010, Mayor and Common Council approved a Side Letter Agreement (Resolution No. 2010-275) in which Police Safety negotiated the Charter Section 186 formula to result in no financial impact to both sides for 2010 and 2011. On October 18,2010, Mayor and Common Council approved a Memorandum of Understanding (Resolution No. 2010-345) in which Police Management also negotiated the Charter Section 186 formula to result in no financial impact to both sides for 2010 and 2011. The Mayor and Common Council approved salaries for Fire Safety on November 15, 2010, and Fire Management on December 20, 2010, as a result of the salary surveys and computations required under Charter Section 186. As in previous years, Section Three of Resolution No. 6429 needs to be amended to reflect the Mayor and Common Council actions. The proposed resolution will amend Resolution No. 6429 to incorporate the current salaries. Financial Impact: There is no financial impact to amend Resolution No. 6429.
