AN OFDINANCE Bm-ULATING THE CONSTRUCTION OF AWNINGS
WITHIN THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO.
The Mayor and COIIlllon Council of the City of San Bernardi
do ordain as follows :
Section I. No awnings shall hereafter be c onstruoted
or maintained within the City of San Bernardino, which
extends over any part of the sidewalk of any public stree
in said City J exoept the same confarms to ,the requirements
of this ordi nance .
Section II. All awnings ber..ea.f~er constructed 0:1'
maintained within the City of San lemardino.:hicn extend
over any part of the sidewalk of any public street or
all ey in said City shall be constructed of canvass and

shall be suspended or places upon iron stays fastened
to the adj aoent building and shall be placed at such

heigbth that the lower edge of said awning shall have
an altituie of at least seven feet above the sidewalk/and
no awning shall be so constrooted that it shall extend
beyond the curb line. ~., aWnings shall be fastened
in a secure and workmanlike manner and shall be constroot
to the satisfaotion and approval of the Superintenda1 t of
Streets .
Section III. All wooden , tin and iron awnings
and all other awnings not constructed in conformity
with Section II hereof are hereby declared to be a pub..
lie nuisane~ and the Superintendent of streets is hereby
directed to remove the same.

visions of thi s ordi nance shall be deemed guilty of a
misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished
by a fine not exceeaing $60.00 or by imprisonment in tbe
Ci ty Jail for a term not exceeding 30 days , or by both
