STAFF REPORT
SUBJECT
Resolution of the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino accepting the
donations from Petfinder.com and HEAL Organization, and authorizing the Purchasing Manager to
increase the purchase orders assigned to Victor Medical Company for a combined total of $33,516
for FY 2010-11.
BACKGROUND
Annually, the San Bernardino City Animal Shelter accepts approximately 9,974 dogs and 7,665 cats,
and each animal is required to be vaccinated against contagious diseases upon intake at the shelter.
During FY 2010-11, the City Animal Shelter received a grant from the Petfinder.com Foundation in
the amount of$16,500, and a donation from the HEAL Organization in the amount of$3,016.
These monies were donated for the specific purpose of purchasing animal vaccinations.
The City Shelter has an existing purchase order with Victor Medical Company for animal
vaccinations in the amount of $14,000. The proposed action will increase this purchase order to
accommodate the donated funds.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The funds for this increase will be generated from donated funds, and the expenditure will be
appropriated in the Animal Shelter account for vaccinations (account: 772-231-2352-0000). These
will have no impact on the General Fund budget.

RECOMMENDATION
1. Adopt resolution.
2. Authorize the Finance Director to amend the FY 2010-11 budget as outlined in the staff report.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
That the City hereby accepts the donation of $16,500 from
9 Petfinder.com Foundation and $3,016 from HEAL Organization for the purpose of purchasing
