Recommended motion:
1. That Change Order No. Three to the contract with Fernando Ortega
Construction, for construction of Phase II-B of Rio Vista (Anne
Shirrells) Park, in accordance with Plan No. 7038, be approved;
authorizing the Contractor to replace the three-phase transformer
pad with a single phase transformer pad, for an increase in the
contract price of $418.50, from $333,369.14 to $333,787.14.b
2. That the work be approved and accepted and that final pJYment be

SYNOPSIS OF PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION Cont:
02-01-88 -- Resolution No. 88-33 adopted awarding a contract for
the low bid price of $328,416.50.
02-01-88 -- Expenditure of $3,500 from Sixth Ward Park Extension
Fund approved.
04-04-88 -- Contract Change Order No. One approved for the re-
location of the scoreboard at an increase in the
contract price of $3,500.00, from $328,416.50 to
$331,916.50.
08-15-88 -- Contract Change Order No. Two approved for various
minor items of work for an increase in contract price
of $1,452.64, from $331,916.50 to $333,369.14.

STAFF REPORT
The project was designed and constructed with a concrete
pad for the installation of a three-phase electrical transformer,
even though the existing Edison facilities required a single-phase
transformer. Therefore, the constructed pad must be replaced with
a single-phase pad, in order to secure electrical service.
Change Order No. Three authorizes the Contractor to
perform the necessary changes for a net increase in cost of
$418.50. Although no contingencies were included in the project
funding, Community Development contingency funds could be used to
finance the additional cost for this change order.
All work was satisfactorily completed as of 10-5-88. The
contract was awarded for the low bid price of $328,416.50.
Contract Change Orders No's One, Two and Three increased the
contract price to $333,787.64. The final actual contract price is
$338,779.17, due to the final quantities exceeding the estimated
quantities in the bid documents for concrete driveway, sidewalk,
curb and gutter, cross-gutter and brick dust.
We recommend that the work be approved and accepted, and
that final payment be authorized at the expiration of the lien
period. Also, that Change Order No. 3 be approved.
