OF SAN BERNARDIU - REQUE'-'" FOR COUNCIL AC1..4N STAFF REPORT A letter has been received from Brian McCormick, Public Administrator- Coroner, recommending that Lena Road, between Mill Street and Third Street, be changed to Frank Bland Road. Attached is a copy of this letter for reference. All of the adjoining properties are within the City limits, except for the east side, between Rialto Avenue and Third Street. The only established business address within the City limits is Bonadiman-McCain, Inc.. 280 South Lena Road. The proposed street name change has been discussed with Mr. Bill Bonadiman. Mr. Bonadiman did not object to the street name change, but voiced concern over the cost that he would be forced to incur for replacing stationery and checks. The new facility will be located on the east side of Lena Road, between Rialto Avenue and Mill Street in the City of San Bernardino. This facility will be the first permanent location associated with the above departments and those who have been involved in the plan- ning and construction aspect, including the Board of Supervisors, Grand Jury, and the County Administrative Office, are proud to make what once was a dream, a reality. Because my department has worked so closely with law enforcement and because our late Sheriff Frank Bland was not only an outstand- ing law enforcement official, but a leading citizen of California, I am recommending and proposing that Lena Road between Rialto Ave- nue and Mill Street be renamed Frank Bland Road. The above action would be an outstanding tribute to a great man.
