RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 SAN BERNARDINO APPROVING THE DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN POLICE
APPLICANT FILES, PAPERS AND PRE-EMPLOYMENT POLYGRAPH EXAMINATIONS
4 PURSUANT TO SECTION 34090 OF THE GOVERNMENT CODE OF THE STATE OF
CALIFORNIA.

6 WHEREAS, THE Chief of Police has determined that useful retention period for the
7 Police Department's unsuccessful applicants' files to be five years.
8 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:

10 SECTION 1. The Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino hereby
11 authorizes the Chief of Police to destroy the following obsolete unsuccessful applicant records in
12 accordance with the procedures and requirements of Section 34090 of the California Govemment
13 Code:

(a) The files of police officer applicants who were rejected by the San Bernardino
Police Department prior to July 1, 2004.
(b) The files of reserve police officer applicants who were rejected by the San
Bernardino Police Department prior to July 1, 2004.
(c) The files of general employee applicants who were rejected by the San
Bernardino Police Department prior to July 1, 2004,
(d) Pre-employment polygraph examinations of police officerlreserve officer
applicants who were rejected by the San Bernardino Police Department prior to
July 1,2004.
