Mayor: There is one other item that I would like to bring
to the Council. You have before you the new logo that the
Mayor of the new administration would hope that you would
endor~e, showing that San Bernardino is certainly the
hear~ of the Inland Empire, and that we do have pride in
the progress that we are going to make. I would certainly
appreciate your support of that logo.
Quiel:
Reilly:
So move.
I'll second.
(Might have been Strickler)
Hern: Discussion. Mayor, give me the total amount that
it's going to cost the City for this.
Mayor: You have had a logo already, and I don't
anticipate the cost of this logo costing any more. We
certainly will not destroy all of the letterheads that we
have "Living City - On The Move" on. I'm kind of frugal,
too. We hope to perhaps, maybe utilize this as perhaps a
fundraising - print "T" shirts, so that it supports some
of the public relations activity we might do with it. If
there are any increased cost to the City, certainly we
would come back to the Council, if that amount was not in
either the Mayor's Public Relations Budget or set aside.
Okay?
Hern: I still don't hear the total amount, the total
cost. I would have hoped that we would have done a cost
analysis before we say we are going to do this, and then
to make a decision. Because to do this, and then assume
it's going to cost $20,000 or $40 or $50,000 and we don't
know.. .
Quiel: What the intent is, and correct me if I am wrong,
Madam Mayor, what you've just said is that we will make
the change over as need arises.
Mayor: That's right. It's like, the logo is used on the
patches of the uniforms - it's time to order patches. So,
it's not going to cost any more to have a change of logo.
Marks: Through the chair.

Mayor: Yes.

right?
So the first motion is to adopt it as a logo,
Mayor: Right. We're not changing the City Seal. It's a
logo that has been changed with every administration that
I have been aware of.
Quiel: I would like again for you to tell me, how did you
pick the blue? The sky's the limit, huh?
Mayor: The sky's the limit.
Mayor: Can we call for the vote?
Hern: Unless I get the costs, I can't support it.
Mayor: Thank you.

Strickler: We have another item. We need the attorney's
opinion on this letter.

themselves the difference between adopting the logo,
that implementation was something else and that we would

You don't get to vote on the logo, forget that.
Marks: What about blazers for the Council and the Mayor
with the logo? Seriously. Every other city does it.
What this city doesn't have enough of is boosterism.
Strickler: In fact, when we go to conventions or seminars
and meetings...
Quiel:
I use a 42 Regular - who is taking the order?
Marks:
I wear a 52 Regular.
Mayor: Do we have an opinion on what this body can take
up on this RDA issue?
