Synopsis of Previous Council action:
07-11-84 --- Resolution No. 84-248 adopted, awarding a contract to Mark Cox Electric,
Inc., and approving Change Order No. One, to reduce the contract price
by $126,524.00.
02-04-85 --- Change Order No. Two approved to authorize the Contractor to provide
TV outlets, additional phone jack, deleted fixtures in the skylight,
revised ceiling and security wiring at an increase of $5,444.91 in
the contract price, from $495,798.00 to $501,242.91.
03-18-85 --- Change Order No. Three approved to authorize the Contractor to delete
TV outlets, added in C.C.O. No. Two, revised existing lights, revised
first floor lighting and power; and added two low voltage relays, at
a total decrease of $l75.62 in contract price from $50l,242.91 to
$50l,067.29. (Cont. on 2nd page)
Recommended motion:
That Change Order No. Seven to the contract with Mark Cox
El ectric, Inc., for construction of electrical facil ities
for the New Central Library in accordance with Plan No. 6464,
be approved; to authorize the Contractor to install Halo
Model #1176 track lights in place of Halo Model #733-P track
lights, at an increase in the contract price of $1,003.93,
from $502,096.85 to $503,100.78.

Change Order No. Seven directs the Contractor to install Halo Model
#l176 track lights, in lieu of Halo Model #733-P track lights. These lights
were installed in error at the direction of the Electrical Engineer.
A copy of the memorandum from Bill Doran, Construction Manager,
dated 9-l8-85, is attached. In this memorandum, Mr. Doran describes each
item of work, and recommends that Change Order No. Seven be approved.
We concur with the recommendation by Mr. Doran that this Change
Order be approved.
The Budget vs. Bid Analysis dated 12-6-84 showed an amount of $6,l38
for change orders in process and $5,000 for estimated future change order
costs. The net additional cost for Change Order Nos. 2, 3, 5, 6 & 7 is
$7,302.78. Change Order No.4 was for no cost. Therefore, approval of Change
Order No. Seven will not invalidate the financial report dated 12-6-84.

add a 2" conduit for irrigation sprinkler control wires, at
an increase in the contract price of $367.81, from $50l,067.29

1l-04-85 -- Change Order No. Six on Agenda to be approved to authorize the
Contractor to relocate temporary power; provide additional
wiring for elevator control; and relocate three thermostats,
at an increase in contract price of $66l.75, from $501,435.l0
to $502,096.85.

Subject change order is attached.
The reasons for, and the explanation of this change is as follows:

This provides additional compensation to the
electrical contractor for providing Halo Model
# L 1769 track lights as specified by the
electrical engineer in place of the Halo Model
# 733P track lights per Change Order #l, items
4 and 5. .

Change Order #1, items 4 and 5 provided the
City with a credit for changing the specified
track lighting (model #L1769) to model #733P.
During the submittal review however, the
contractor was inadvertently directed to pro-
vide the model #L 1769. This was done and
this Change Order will compensate this con-
tractor for the difference in price between
the two fixtures of $ 25.l0/Unit.
We have reviewed the itemized costs for this item and have found them to be
. acceptable.
We recommend that you approve this change order.
