Synopsis of Previous Council action:
In November of 1984, a resolution was passed to allow an administrative
fee of $18000 per parcel for weed abatement and also an additional fee
of $18.00 to process appeals.
Recommen':led motion:

STAFF REPORT
In November of 1984, a resolution was passed authorizing an administrative
fee of $18.00 to be charged for weed abatement and an additional charge
of $18.00 to charges for weed abatement and an additional charge of $18.00
for appeal processing fees.
In reviewing these rates, it appears that these amounts are not sufficient
to cover the actual costs expended by the City. Below is a breakdown
of actual costs incurred. The administrative fee and processing fees
were both rounded for simplicity.
These charges are based on an estimate of one hour's work, which includes
inspection, posting, reinspection, billing, filing, etc.

2 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO ESTABLISHING AN
ADMINISTRATIVE CHARGE OF THIRTY-FIVE DOLLARS FOR PROCESSING
3 NUISANCE ABATEMENTS AND WEED ABATEMENTS, AND FIFTY-FIVE DOLLARS
FOR ADMINISTRATIVE EXPENSES OF PROCESSING APPEALS TO THE BOARD
4 OF BUILDING COMMISSIONERS; AND REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 84-456.
5 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:

7 SECTION 1. Pursuant to Section 8.27.100 of the San
8 Bernardino Municipal Code, an administrative charge of Thirty-
9 Five Dollars is hereby established for processing nuisance
10 abatements and weed abatements on each lot or portion of
]] lot, described by the lot and block number or parcel number
]2 according to the official maps of the County Assessor, to
]3 partially defray costs incurred by the City for clerical and
]4 field operations connected with said abatements. Said charge
]5 shall be in addition to all other charges previously authorized
]6 to be assessed pursuant to this section.
]7 SECTION 2. An administrative charge of Fifty-Five Dollars
]8 is hereby established for processing of an appeal filed
]9 pursuant to an objection to assessment as provided at Section
20 8.27.110 of the San Bernardino Municipal Code. Said charge is
2] established to partially defray costs incurred by the City in the
22 proces sing of such appea Is.
23 SECTION 3. Resolution No. 84-456 is hereby repealed.
