Recommen<:led motion:
1. Authorize the Purchasing Department to issue a purchase order of not to
exceed $2,973.10 to Mr. Bob Wirts, Traffic Engineer, to complete the updating
of radar speed surveys of 19 City streets.
2. Authorize the transfer of $3,000 of "salary savings" from 001-305-52020 to
account 001-395-53150.

STAFF REPORT
The traffic engineering radar speed surveys of a total of 19 collector and arterial
streets in the City will expire by the beginning of 1986. The State law requires
that speed surveys for streets with prima facie speed limits, other than 25 mph
and 55 mph, be updated and kept current within five (5) years. Otherwise, the
Police Oepartment personnel cannot utlize radar to enforce the existing speed limits
posted on these streets. Due to the current manpower shortage in the Traffic Engin-
eering Section, and other projects currently underaken, the Traffic Engineering Staff
is unable to devote full time efforts to complete a project of this magnitude within
a short time period.

service to the City and have received the following quotations:

It is recommended utilizing the salary savings accumulated to hire Mr. Bob Wirts,
I.E., to provide the radar speed survey updating, at not to exceed $2,973.00
