Dear Mayor:
We are an organization formed to suppOrt charitable bingo operations in the
local area. This letter solicits your support for the change of municipal
code ordinances which will aid in the prosperity of charitable bingo operations.
First of all, San Bernardino City Ordinance 5.36.060 subd. d limits the total
prizes paid in anyone session to $3,000.00. We ask you to eliminate this
provision.
Secondly, _ ask that you redifine "bingo" which you have stated in San
Bernardino City Municipal Code section 5.36.010(a} to that stated in Penal
Code section 326.5 subd. o. This change would allowbingo operators in the city
to use "pull tabs" which use is permitted in most other areas of the county.
Lastly, "'9 would like "bingo" to be defined in such a fashion to allow a
game called "you pick em". In such a game a blank bingo card with carbons
is sold. The players pick the nunbers. for the bingo game. The game is
played; the winners are confinred by the carbon which has already been
turned in.
These changes, _ believe, will enhance the alternatives to our operations
and will insure their continued vitality.
Hoping you will take action consistent with our requests, I am
