Plans approved and authorization granted to advertise for bids. STAFF REPORT Certain modifications will be made under this project to bring the facilities within Perris Hill Park and Blair Park into compliance with current standards for accessibility to the handi- capped. The proposed modifications will make these parks more convenient and safer to the handicapped, by eliminating archi- tectural barriers. Additionally, the State Legislature has, at Public Re- sources Code Section 5701, made the following pertinent findings: (al It is the responsibility of the state to encourage, and assist in the provision of, better parks and enhanced recreational opportunities for all citizens of Cal ifornia. (b) Community, neighborhood, and regional parks, beaches, recreational areas, recreational trails, and other recreational facilities, and the preservation of historic sites and structures contribute significant- ly to a healthy physical and moral environment and also contribute to the economic betterment of the state. We recommend that a finding be made that improvement of Phase II-B is needed for health and safety reasons. 9-14-87 75-0264
