Synopsis of Previous Council action:

tion of lien period.
Resolution No. 86-76 adopted authorizing execution of Agree-
ment for development of See combe Lake State Urban Recreation Area.
Plans approved and authorization granted to advertise for bids.
Resolution No. 86-328 adopted, awarding contract to Valley Crest
Landscaping, Inc. for the low bid price of $915,000.00.
Approval of Change Order No.1, deleting the Adobe Building
re-construction at a net decrease of $56,266.00 from
$915,000.00 to $858,734.00.

Recommended motion:
That Change Orders Nos. 2 and 3 to the contract with Valley Crest Landscape,
Inc. for construction of Phase lA, Zone B of Seccombe Lake State Urban
Recreation Area per Plan 6878, be approved; to authorize payments of
$3,542.58 and $6,741.87 for extra work to the existing column connections
and the existing adobe structure, for a total increase in contract price
of $10,284.45, from $858,734.00 to $869,018.45.

STAFF REPORT
The construction of Phase IA of Seccombe Lake State Urban Recre-
ation area was awarded under two separate contracts. The Con-
tractor was required to make revisions to the existing tubular
steel columns at the pavilion structure. Connections between
the pavilion work performed under the first and second contracts
were not included in either contract. Change Order No.2 would
reimburse the Contractor $3,542.58 for this extra work.
Change Order No.3 is for extra work performed by the Contractor
for complete demolition of the existing adobe structure. The
contract called only for removal of a portion of the structure,
but the building was found to be unstable and was completely
demolished. The contractor hauled off the debris and stacked
the salvageable adobe bricks. The cost of Change Order No.3 is
$6,741.87.
Contract Change Order No. 1 deleted the reconstruction of the adobe structure
at a net decrease in the contract price of $56,266.00. The funds for Change
Orders Nos. 2 & 3 are, therefore, available in the original funding account,
No. 243-363-57527, 1984.State 80nd Act.
We consider these extra costs to be justified and reasonable,
and recommend that Change Orders No.2 and 3 be approved for a
total of $10,284.45, increasing the contract price from
$858,734.00 to $869,018.45.
