Synopsis of Previous Council action:
11-04-85 -- Confirmation granted that requirements for Federal Bridge Replacement
Program will be complied with. and allocation of $35.000 to finance
the City's share approved.
Recommended motion:
That the plans for replacement of the Valley Street Bridge
over Warm Creek. in accordance with Plan No. 6934, be
approved; and the Director of Public Works/City Engineer
authorized to advertise for bids.

STAFF REPORT
Plans for replacement of the Valley Street Bridge over Warm Creek have
been prepared by the Engineering Division, and the project is ready to be ad-
vertised for bids. The project consists, in general, of removing the existing
bridge and constructing a reinforced concrete box culvert.
Listed below is an estimate of the total project cost:

An amount of $151,200 will be programmed from the Federal Bridge Re-
placement Program to finance 80% of the total project cost. This amount is
an estimate and will be increased if necessary to cover actual costs incurred.
The Street Construction Fund Budget allocates $30,100 under Account 242-362-
57373, "Valley Street Bridge @ Warm Creek," to finance the 20% local agency
sha re .
The preliminary estimate of cost, dated 2-2-87, shows a total amount
of $196,215. City funds, in the amount of $39,200, will be needed to fully
finance the 20% local agency share. It is proposed that supplemental funds in
the amount of $9,100 will be provided in the 1987-88 Street Construction Fund
Budget.
We recommend that the plans be approved and authorization granted to
advertise for bids. Caltrans will also have to grant authorization to
advertise before we can solicit bids.
