STAFF REPORT
Plans for replacement of the Oak Street Bridge at Warm Creek have been
prepared by the Engineering Division and the project is ready to be advertised
for bids, The project consists, in general, of removing the existing bridge
and constructing a reinforced concrete box culvert.
Listed below is an estimate of the total project cost:
Construction Contract

Contingencies (5%)~
TOTAL ESTIMATED PROJECT COST
$ 182,506
20,000
$ 202,506
11,180
$ 213,686
An amount of $157,680 has been made available from Federal Bridge
Replacement Funds to finance 80% of the total project cost. The 20% local
agency share will be financed from the $12,000 allocated under Account No.
242-362-57349, Oak Street - "D" Street to Warm Creek, and $31,000 allocated
under Account No. 242-362-57359, "Oak Street Bridge at Warm Creek." The total
amount of funds available is $200;680.
The $12,000 was allocated to alleviate a drainage problem along Oak
Street, between "0" Street and Warm Creek. These improvements were included
in the bridge replacement project, in order to obtain the lowest possible bid
prices.
Caltrans has determined that $16,586 of the estimated construction
contract cost is non-participating, which means that it is not eligible for
fi nanci ng wi th Federal funds. The bul k of ,these i terns are the drainage facil i-
ties on Oak Street, with the remainder being street work beyond the limits
indicated at the field review.
We recommend that the plans be approved and authorization granted to
advertise for bids. Authorization to advertise will also have to be received
from Caltrans before bids can be solicited.
Supplemental funds, in the amount of $13,000, will be needed to
fully finance the local agency share. It is proposed that these funds be
provided in the 1987-88 Street Construction Fund Budget.
