CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
Staff Report
On November 18, 2000, the California Historic Route 66 Association is hosting a Car Show and
Cruise, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. They have requested the closure of"E" Street, between
Baseline Avenue and 18th Street to accommodate the participants. They estimate approximately
300 cars and drivers and 500 spectators for the event. It is hoped that this event will lend further
recognition to the city of San Bernardino as the home of Route "66".
The Association has non-profit status and, as such, is requesting a waiver of City fees in
connection with the event. These fees include:

Attached is the organization's budget for the event including estimated expenses and anticipated
donations and in kind services. All insurance requirements have been met. If approved by the
Mayor and Council, the waiver of fees would amount to $3,967.

E Street Car Show & Cruise.
The Historic Site of the Original McDonalds & the California Historic Route 66
Association will be putting on a Car Show & Cruise on Saturday November 18111.
The hours for thl: Cruise will be 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The event will be presented by Hot Rod of Nor co who will supply the 50's era
entertainment (DJ music, music groups, and dancers.)
The location of the cruise will be E street from Baseline to 18th Street near San
Bernardino High School.
Registration would take place in the Adult School parking lot located at Baseline & "E"
Streets. Public parking will also be allowed in the school parking lot. The school will not
allow vehicles to cruise in the parking lot and we must supply a security patrol for the lot.
The vehicles will be limited to 1972 & earlier American automobiles. A cap has been set
at 500 vehicles. These vehicles would be parallel parked on "E" Street.
This would require the closure of "E" street between Baseline & 18th streets.

W. 13th St. Both sides ofE St.
W. 14thSt. Both ~ides ofE St.
Magnolia Ave. Both sides ofE St.
W. 15th St. East side ofE St.
W. Evans St. West side ofE St.
W. 16th St. Both sides ofE St.
W. 17th St. Bot~ sides of E St.
W. 18th St. East side ofE St.
We are looking to local neighborhood associations to provide volunteers to aid in
cleanup.
Vendors will ~ required to adhere city policies.
The event will ~nd at 9:00 p.m. & from 9:00 p.m. to 10:p.m. cleanup will commence.
Jacks Disposal will be providing refuse services.
