On August 28, 2000, the Council Personnel Committee recommended
this item for approval,
Recommended Motion:
1. Establish one (1) additional position of Code Compliance Officer II, Range 1370,
$2,810 - $3,416/month.
2, Direct the Human Resources Department to update Resolution 6413, Section
Ten, to reflect this action.
3, Authorize the Director of Finance to amend the FY 2000-2001 Code Compliance
Budget to reflect both the increase in Code Compliance's expenditure budget
(001-073-5011 - Salaries & Benefits) and the corresponding revenue
reimbursement to be received from EDA (001-000-4670),

STAFF REPORT
SUBJECT
Establish one (1) additional position of Code Compliance Officer II in the Code
Compliance Division. No new classifications would be established,
BACKGROUND
The Code Compliance Division has received $150,000 in funding from the County of
San Bernardino Neighborhood Initiative Program, of which $100,000 are reserved for
the direct cost of demolition of substandard buildings, and the remaining $50,000 is
reserved for the addition of one (1) Code Compliance Officer II position,
The activities of this position will be restricted to Target Area #1 within the seven
neighborhoods designated by the Mayor and Common Council. Target Area #1 is
defined as the area between 13th and 18th Streets, Sierra Way and "D" Street.
The position is currently funded for one year; however, the program is designed to take
on one area each year so it is anticipated that additional funding may be available in
future years,

Funds from the County's Neighborhood Initiative Program (and administered through
the City's EDA) will cover the cost of this position and related staff time up to $50,000,
A budget amendment is needed to reflect both the increase in Code Compliance's
expenditure budget (001-073-5011 - Salaries & Benefits) and the corresponding
revenue reimbursement to be received from EDA (001-000-4670), Because revenues
and expenditures are being increased equally, there is no net impact to the General
Fund,
RECOMMENDATIONS
1, Establish one (1) additional position of Code Compliance Officer II, Range 1370,
$2,810 - $3,416/month.
