Synopsis of Previous Council action:
03-20-89 --- Authorization. was given to proceed with the proposed sale of
certain City owned parcels.
Recommended motion:.
1. That the Real Property Section is authorized to sell those certain parcels of land as
outlined in the attached report from the Director of Public Works, dated June 12, 1989,
which is hereby declared to be surplus, and to do all things necessary and incidental
thereto according to established procedures, including the payment of appraisal and title
services.

2. That the payment of Real Estate Broker's cOllDlission, in the amount of 67. of the sale price,
is hereby authorized incidental to the sale of certain City owned parcels of laud, as
outlined in the attached report from the Director of Public Works, dated June 12, 1989.
3. That the Real Property Section is authorized to negotiate the sale of City owned
property,located on the West side of Garner Avenue, at Olive street (Assessor's Parcel
no. 0138-113-40), with the City Water Department.
4. That the Real Property Section is authorized to negotiate the

STAFF REPORT
On December 12, 1988, the Ways and Means Committee recommended that certain City
owned parcela be considered for sale.
On March 20, 1989, the Real Property Section was authorized to proceed with the
sale of those parcels. As part of the proceedings, all City departments were
notified of the proposed sale, and solicited for their comments and
recommendations relative to present or future needs. Of the departments' that
responded, all were favorable to the proposed sale, with the following
exceptions:
181 S. "G" Street (Item #2 on attached report) --- The City Administrator's
Office recommended retaining this property either for City use or
Redevelopment Agency use. The Redevelopment Agency has requested
this property be retained and procedures initiated for transfer of
property. We recommend that authorization be given to negotiate
the transfer of this property to the RDA. '
3250 Harrison (Item #3 on attached report) The Mayor's office
recommended retaining this property for possible use by the
California Conservation Corps (CCC). The property is currently
leased on a month to month basis to the Sheriff's' Search, and
Rescue Team, but can be terminated with a 30 day notice. We
recommend that sale of this property be deferred until a
determination can be made to the suitability of the facilities for
the CCC.
Garner and Olive (Item #7 on attached report) --- Water Department
requested the transfer of this property to the Water Department
for a well site, and we recommend that authorization be given to
negotiate the transfer of this property for Water Department use.
Before the remainder of the properties can be sold, we will need to get title
reports and formal outside appraisal reports on those parcels, which will cost
an estimated amount of $6,000. After these items are obtained, the next step will
be to obtain authorization to secure bids. The City has attempted to sell, these
properties in the past, but no substantial bids were obtained. Therefore, we
recommend that a Real Estate Broker's commission be paid, in the amount of 6~ of
the sale price. The properties would be listed through a Multiple Listing
Service, to assure a wide coverage. The City would still retain it's right to
reject any and all bids.
We therefore recommend that the above motions be approved.
