CI-R OF SAN BERNAROlio - .REQU& FOR COUNCIL AC-RON STAFF REPORT On August 20, 1985, bids were received and opened for the construction of a trash enclosure at Nunez Park. This was the second bid opening and a total of 5 bids were received. These bids ranged from a low of $23,334.00 to a high of $37,518.00. The low bid is 18.5% higher than the Engineer's estimate for the construction. Previous bid openings had a low cost of $32,495.00 for the work. Presently there is $24,155.00 available from CDBG Funds (Acct. #722). The following is a breakdown of anticipated costs: Construction Contract $23,334.00 Inspection & Contract Administration $ 4,660.00 (W.O. #1492) Subtotal $27,994.00 Contingencies .. (15%) $ 4,206.00 $33,200.00 To ta 1 After due consideration, the Parks Department is recommending the rejection of all bids for this project. There are insufficient funds available to provide for the construction, contract administration and necessary construction inspection, and the Parks Department is investigating the use of City forces for portions of the work in order to reduce construction costs. Therefore, it is recommended that the Mayor and Common Council reject all bids received for the Trash Enclosure at Nunez Park. 2 75-0264
