OF SAN BERNARDIQ) - REQUEOr FOR COUNCIL AC'())N STAFF REPORT Approved in the Animal Control Department 84/85 Budget was a proposed program to vaccinate most all dogs and cats received at the City Shelter with vaccines to assist in reducing the spread and incidents of common but serious diseases. It was estimated we would vaccinate 10,800 dogs and 5,500 cats during the fiscal year at a cost of approximately $18,000. In order to assure the program would be self supporting, we estimated that 30% of all impounded dogs (3,240) are either reclaimed by their owners; adopted to new homes, or sold to research. Approximately 20% of all cats (990) leave the Shelter alive similarly. The adoption of a $5.00 vaccination fee for all dogs and cats reclaimed by their owners, adopted to a new home or sold for research purposes, would support the cost of the program. It is estimated a $5.00 vaccination fee would generate $21,000 annually. 75-0264 . , C 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 -I 1.1 OORDINANCE NO.O o~ ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING SECTION 6.24.150 OF THE SAN BERNARDINO MUNICIPAL CODE TO PROVIDE FOR A FIVE DOLLAR VACCINATION FEE FOR ALL DOGS AND CATS RECLAIMED, ADOPTED, OR SOLD FOR RESEARCH PURPOSES FROM THE ANIMAL SHELTER. THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. San Bernardino Municipal Code Section 6.24.150 is , amended by adding thereto Subsection G to read: "G. Vaccination fee: five dollars for each dog or cat reclaimed by its owner five dollars for each dog or cat adopted to a new home five dollars for each dog or cat sold for research purposes." 1 HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance was duly adopted by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Berna~dino at a meeting thereof, held , 1985, by the following on the day of vote, to wit: AYES: Council Members NAYS: ABSENT: City Clerk The foregoing ordinance is hereby approved this day of , 1985.
